Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and District of Columbia Board accept courses from ASWB-approved providers?

Yes. For a complete list of states that accept ASWB-approved courses, click here.

What kind of courses does Community Behavioral Health offer?

Community Behavioral Health offers monthly live webinar courses on diagnosis and treatment of mental illness taught by a Harvard-trained child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. To register, click here.

We periodically update this page with information on the upcoming course of the month.

Who should attend the courses?

The courses are intermediate level continuing education for licensed clinical social workers, professional counselors, physicians, and other licensed healthcare providers. Though they are only offered for continuing education credit for social workers at this time, they are under review for counseling and graduate medical education approval.

Where do I go to attend the course?

A teleconferencing link to the webinar to be emailed upon completion of registration here.

How much continuing education can I earn with online courses?

Each hour of course time offers a minimum of 1 continuing education credit.

Please remember to research your state’s licensing guidelines. Licensing regulations can change frequently including guidelines about how many continuing education credits you can earn on-line. Most jurisdictions require a certain number of hours in ethics and other areas of practice. The final authority for approving any continuing education activity rests with your state board. Even those states that endorse the ACE program may have exceptions in terms of the courses that they will accept. It is ultimately your responsibility to understand the licensing regulations in your state.

How much do the courses cost?

All of our courses are $5.00 per credit hour but can also be accessed through an annual $100 fee. Pay 24 hours in advance through the registration link found here.

Refunds are not provided.

CEU? Contact Hour? Credit Hour?

How do I get my certificate and CE credit?

Different jurisdictions have different definitions.  For some jurisdictions, the term CEU consists of ten credit hours.  At Community Behavioral Health, we offer continuing education (CE) credit hours and we estimate that each credit hour will require one hour of reading.

To receive credit, please register with your complete information, attend the full course with video on and your full name entered in the meeting, complete the attendance form, and complete the post test and course evaluation with a passing score of 60% within 3 test attempts.

The certificate is awarded immediately upon successful completion of post test and course evaluation via email.

Who will teach the courses?

Dr. Suni Jani is a Board Certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist, a Consultant Psychiatrist in the United Kingdom, and a Board Certified Independent Medical Examiner currently practicing in Maryland. She graduated with her doctorate in Medicine from The George Washington University, completed her General Psychiatry residency training at the Baylor College of Medicine, and did her Child and Adolescent fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital. She currently holds an appointment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, a Clinical Instructor at the George Washington University, and the Director of Research and Development at Community Behavioral Health. She has published widely on numerous disciplines in mental health.
